3 victims hit by a car in Massachusetts parking lot

As the holidays approach, many malls and other businesses are likely to see an increase in the number of customers who visit in a given day. As a result, parking lots are often busier as well, including more pedestrians and drivers. While drivers should always remain vigilant, this increase in traffic necessitates that drivers take even more care. Unfortunately, three pedestrians were recently hit by a car in a Massachusetts parking lot.

Police say that the victims were struck by a car driven by an elderly woman. One of the victims, a 73-year-old male, was reportedly exiting a hardware store when he was struck. He was taken to an area hospital but ultimately died as a result of the injuries he suffered. Two other victims are currently listed in stable condition.

The driver was also injured. Police indicate that no criminal charges have been filed at this time as they continue their investigation. Family members of the deceased victim report that he was a respected member of the community and beloved father, husband and grandfather.

The costs associated with the unexpected death of a loved one — including medical costs and funeral expenses — can create an unmanageable burden for surviving family members. In addition, the two other men hit by a car will likely face a long road to recovery, resulting in medical bills. Because many victims in Massachusetts are unable to work while they recover, the loss of wages further complicates their financial situation. As a result, many victims of accidents such as this — including family members in the event of a fatality — seek damages in a civil court. A successfully presented case could result in a monetary award that would significantly ease the financial burdens of the victims.
