In a head-on car accident, a 59-year-old Rhode Island woman driving a 2000 Toyota Camry was killed when a 53-year-old Foxboro man in a 2013 Range Rover crossed the grassy median from the northbound side and hit her head-on. The Range Rover then struck a Ford Edge.

The driver of the Range Rover and his passenger, a young boy, were taken to Norwood Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and the driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passengers, two Rhode Island men aged 28 and 62, were seriously injured and transported by helicopter to Boston Medical Center. The 25-year-old female driver of the Edge and her 25-year-old female passenger, both from Quincy, were taken by ambulance to Norwood Hospital.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on May 27 near exit 11 off Interstate 95. Police are investigating why the driver of the Range Rover crossed over to the southbound side of the road. In similar cases, fault may be attributed to the negligence of one of the drivers. If the results of the police investigation suggest that the accident was caused by reckless or distracted driving, the man driving the Range Rover may be held liable for damages in court.

In a car accident that results in catastrophic injuries, victims may seek damages for compensation of medical expenses and lost wages through a personal injury lawsuit. A personal injury attorney who is working with the plaintiffs in this case might consider all of the available evidence, including police reports, witness statements, video footage and crash reconstruction evidence. He or she may also help the plaintiff negotiate a pretrial settlement with the defendant or the relevant insurance company.
