Parents typically spend a big part of their lives worrying about their children's health and well-being. Many parents put many safety measures in place to prevent harm, but they can not always protect their children from others who may behave in a negligent manner. For example, cellphones allow people to contact loved ones whenever and wherever, while GPS units allow drivers to arrive at their destinations with relatively little effort. Even with the creation of these devices, it seems that people's lives are busier than ever and filled with an increasing number of distractions. Unfortunately, a distracted, rushed driver could cause a serious pedestrian accident. Pedestrian accidents can happen to people who are in a crosswalk or those walking, jogging or cycling on Massachusetts roadways. Crosswalk accidents occur even though pedestrians in crosswalks…

Bicycling is a popular hobby and form of transportation in many parts of the United States, but the lack of protection that a bicyclist has while riding is disturbingly low. Drivers in Boston and across New England know that it's important to keep an eye out for pedestrians. Particularly in congested city neighborhoods, people traveling on foot may not always cross the street at intersections with designated traffic signals for walkers. And in some areas there may not be crosswalks available. While pedestrians are encouraged to use crosswalks whenever possible, children especially may not be as careful about doing this. Young people are often less aware of their surroundings and may forget to thoroughly check for oncoming traffic before running out into the street. The loved ones of a 12-year-old boy who…
