Westminster car crash seriously injures daughter, kills mother

On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Friday December 14, 2012

At about 4:00 in the afternoon on a school day, a mother and her 9-year-old daughter may be running errands. Perhaps the mother takes the daughter to dance class or soccer practice. Or maybe they run to the grocery store after school to get one last ingredient for dinner.

The reasons a woman and her 9-year-old daughter were on the quiet two-lane road were unreported. What was reported was that the 27-year-old woman and her daughter were in a fatal crash with a pickup truck.

The accident took place near the corner of Betty Spring Road and Route 140 in Westminster County. The 27-year-old was taken to Henry Heywood Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The woman’s 9-year-old daughter was taken to the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester with injuries. The pickup truck driver and his son were also injured and transported to Henry Heywood Hospital with unreported injuries.

The police are not sure what happened and are looking for witnesses to the accident. The aerial view shows that the intersection has well marked turn lanes, but does not have a traffic control light. A blue sedan was reported in the area at the time of the accident, and police are requesting help in locating the potential witness.

It seems as though either the 27-year-old woman or the pickup truck driver was negligent and would thus be liable for the personal injuries suffered by the other driver and passengers.
