Women who are expecting have a million different things to worry about. They worry about how their baby is developing, how their food intake will impact the baby and if they will go into labor too early, among many other things. With all these things to be concerned about, auto accidents are probably low on the list. However, a pregnant woman was recently airlifted after a collision in Massachusetts.

The accident happened late one afternoon in early February. Police say they discovered a pregnant woman who was trapped inside a sedan after a collision. Once extricated, the 21-year-old woman was transported by helicopter Tufts Medical Center for treatment. Her condition, as well as the condition of her unborn baby, is unclear. A 22-year-old male passenger was able to exit the vehicle on his own but was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

The couple had apparently been involved in a collision with a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man who was also transported to the hospital for treatment. While the exact details of the accident are unclear at this time, the driver of the second vehicle has been issued a citation. Police continue their investigation into the accident.

For some people, it is difficult to comprehend the many consequences of auto accidents. While some people may escape relatively unscathed, others will face a long recovery period filled with hospitalizations, surgeries and physical therapy. These treatments can quickly add up to a large amount of medical debt, perhaps exacerbated by lost wages if a person is unable to return to work in the same capacity. As a result, those who have been injured in an accident caused by the negligent acts of another have sought monetary compensation in a Massachusetts civil court. A successfully argued case could result in an award of damages in accordance with state law, relieving the financial burden created by an accident.
