A rare happy ending after Chelsea truck crash

If you see a headline reading "Rollover Truck Accident," you may not think it possible for the story to have a happy ending. And yet, oddly, that happened for a man who was driving a pickup truck involved in a rollover crash. According to news sources, a Boston car accident that caused the pickup truck rollover, occurred as a man was speeding away from police. The pickup driver was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by the 43-year-old man who was fleeing. UMass student killed in motorcycle accident; driver indicted

A Hampshire County grand jury indicted a 23-year-old woman yesterday after an April car crash killed a University of Massachusetts senior and injured another man. The woman was charged with several offenses including a second DUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, manslaughter, felony motor vehicle homicide, and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The accused was driving her vehicle around 2:20 a.m. on April 14 when she caused the fatal motorcycle accident by hitting the bike driven by the 24-year-old student. When one thinks of a pedestrian accident, one might think of a crosswalk at rush hour or a dark and poorly lit road. What new study says about distracted driving

The Center for Disease Prevention and Control monitors not only diseases, but also accidents with injuries and many other topics. According to the CDC, distracted driving is on the rise and it is leading to more accidents. In 2009, 5,400 people died and about 448,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. Of that number, 1,000 fatalities and 24,000 injuries were due to cell phone use. Many of them could have been in Massachusetts. Boston Valets May Be Enlisted to Help Fight Drunk Driving

In the fight against drunk driving, the city of Boston may enlist another line of defense. Currently, bartenders and establishments that serve alcohol can be held liable if they over serve an already drunk patron. If an establishment continues to serve a drunk patron and that drunk patron gets behind the wheel and injures or kills another driver, passenger or pedestrian, the establishment that served the alcohol can be held liable under Dram Shop laws.
