Boston Road scene of pedestrian accident with injuries

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday October 17, 2012

A Google map gives us a bird's eye view of the intersection of Boston Road and Colden Avenue. It is a mixed use neighborhood with single-family homes, low-rise apartment buildings, retail shops and a few small industrial buildings. Boston Road cuts across Colden Avenue at an angle, but there are clearly marked crosswalks and traffic lights. Given those facts, what could be the cause of pedestrian accident? According to news sources, a 12-year-old girl was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car and seriously injured. The accident reportedly took place at 7:00 in the morning, which would…

Pedestrian injured in Peabody’s Peabody Square

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Tuesday September 18, 2012

There is more than one Peabody Square in Massachusetts. The one in front of the Essex County District Court building in Peabody isn't really much of a square, according to the bird's eye view from Google maps. It is more precisely a triangle. One of the sides of Peabody Square in Peabody is bordered by Lowell Street. It was reported that a pedestrian was attempting to cross Lowell Street from the direction of Chestnut Street when she was struck by a Ford Explorer pickup truck. She reportedly had serious personal injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The accident…

Fatal pedestrian accident occurs in Whitman

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Monday September 10, 2012

If anyone could have acted to save the life of a 38-year-old man from Whitman, it would likely have been the Whitman fire chief. The 43-year-old firefighter knew exactly who to call, even though he was off duty. The off-duty fire chief was the first one on the scene when a 38-year-old man and 4-year-old girl were struck by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The pedestrian accident occurred in the middle of the street right in front of the fire chief's house on Temple Street. It was not known how fast the pickup truck was traveling when it hit…

Hit-and-run driver identified in fatal pedestrian accident

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday August 1, 2012

Occasionally a news story leads to more questions than it answers. Why was a pedestrian standing in the middle of a Massachusetts highway at 1:15 in the morning? And why would someone strike an object, stop the car, but then leave the scene of an accident? Recently it was reported that a 29-year-old man from Needham was apparently standing in the middle or Route 24 near Randolph when he was struck by a car. The vehicle was driven by a 20-year-old man from Norton. The 29-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured. According to the police, there were people in the area…

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Tuesday May 29, 2012

One Boston family is probably wondering how the accident could possibly happen. Another family may wonder why it had not happened earlier. Still other families are wondering how a tragic scene will affect their children. According to news sources, a group of school children were about to follow their crossing guard into the road as she provided for safe passage across Ferry Street in Everett. The crossing guard, a 71-year-old grandmother, was wearing her bright safety vest and carrying her large stop sign when she stepped into the crosswalk. In front of horrified elementary school students, she was struck by…

Framingham man killed in pedestrian accident

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Sunday May 6, 2012

When one thinks of a pedestrian accident, one might think of a crosswalk at rush hour or a dark and poorly lit road. One probably does not think of a winding road in a wooded neighborhood in the afternoon. And yet that is what happened. A 61-year-old man was bringing in the trash cans from the end of his driveway at about 4 p.m. when he was struck by a Mercedes, resulting in a fatal pedestrian accident. According to news sources, the man lived on Edmands Road, which is just east of Wayside Inn Road in Framingham. It was not stated…
