On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Wednesday June 26, 2013

An Easton man was pronounced dead at the scene of a fatal accident that pinned him under a fuel truck in West Bridgewater. The 9-1-1 call was made at 10:21 a.m. and alerted police to a motorcycle pinned under a truck. On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Saturday June 15, 2013

According to a study recently published by the Highway Loss Data Institute, the cost of the average medical claim resulting from motorcycle accidents increased by 20 percent after lawmakers relaxed helmet requirements in Michigan last year. Though the study uses Michigan as an example, the move to put an end to mandatory helmet laws has been gaining momentum across the country. According to the HLDI study, the average cost of a motorcycle accident medical claim was $5,410 in the two years before the helmet law was changed. In the time since the law changed, the average medical claim cost rose to $7,257.…

From paralyzed by motorcycle accident to Ironman World Champion

While stories of life's difficulties and tragic events tend to dominate the airwaves these days, it is perhaps the individual who rises above those extremely hard circumstances that should be the real story. Perhaps it is the impatience of a media that tends to think "out of sight, out of mind," which leads to a lack of a follow up story. InVivo Therapeutics is a company that specializes in providing technologies and treatment platforms to improve the lives and functions of individuals paralyzed due to spinal cord injuries. Their sponsored athlete Jason Fowler is a prime example of a feel…

Martha Vineyard dentist saves the day

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Saturday January 5, 2013

When someone suffers from an injury it can affect their lives in ways that may not be known for years to come. It is also often the little things that many take for granted that are the most difficult to foresee as being a problem for those individuals. That is why it is always refreshing to hear of stories where local Massachusetts residents reach out to assist others in need, even in the simple matters such as a tooth ache. One local dentist from Martha's Vineyard did just that. One of his patients who has been paralyzed from the chest…

Motorcycle passenger killed in Dartmouth crash

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Wednesday November 7, 2012

For those in the northeast, it may be nearing the end of motorcycling season. It is not as pleasant out and roads can be slippery with rain or ice at this time of year. A recent motorcycle accident illustrates that although other motorists frequently are the cause of motorcycle crashes, a single-motorcycle accident is also a frequent occurrence. A motorcycle accident took place at 4:30 in the afternoon in Dartmouth, so daylight visibility should not have been a problem. The motorcyclist had a passenger on board when he crashed his bike. The biker suffered life-threatening injuries and the 39-year-old female passenger died…

Motorcycle and SUV collide in Natick, biker seriously injured

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Wednesday October 10, 2012

There is a bumper sticker you may have seen on cars around Suffolk County. It reads: "Start Seeing Motorcycles." The problem with riding a motorcycle, as any biker will tell you, is not the bike -- it is the cars and trucks. The wisdom of that warning was brought home recently when a motorcycle and BMW SUV collided in an intersection. As is typical with most motorcycle accidents, the biker was seriously injured and the driver and passenger in the SUV were not. The SUV and motorcycle crash took place during rush hour in Natick. The crash took place in…

Box truck injures biker in Middleton

On behalf of posted in Commercial Vehicle Accidents on Monday September 24, 2012

When a motorcycle or truck accident occurs in Boston or anywhere and someone is injured, it may be only the injured person who knows what happened to cause the accident. If the injured person is unconscious, it may be left up to an accident reconstruction team to try and figure out what happened in a motor vehicle accident. Recently a motorcyclist and a box truck were involved in a collision in Middleton. The biker suffered serious injuries in the bike and truck accident, and thus may be unable to describe the events at this time. An accident reconstruction team was called…

Boston area motorcycle accidents claim 1 life, injure 4

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Friday August 24, 2012

It is not difficult to understand how an accident involving a car and a motorcycle can result in serious injuries for the biker. There is little protection other than a helmet, which some do not wear, and leather clothing. According to the Center for Disease and Prevention Control, the highest death and injury rate for motorcyclists is among 20-29 year-olds, followed by 40-54 year-olds. Separate motorcycle accidents in the Boston area resulted in one death and four injured persons, some seriously. There is more biking season left before winter arrives in full force, so more motorcycle accidents are a very…

Negligent driver causes accident with motorcycle

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Sunday August 12, 2012

A 61-year-old motorcyclist was flown to Boston Medical Center after he was in a collision with a car that failed to yield. The accident took place in the intersection of Route 121A and Pillsbury Road in Sandown. Among serious bikers, there is a saying that it is not "if" you will get in an accident, it is "when" you will be in an accident. A serious biker will tell you that there is a well-deserved lack of trust for the behavior of motorists who often miss motorcycles in their blind spots or make driving errors that cause the motorcyclist to…
