On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Saturday January 5, 2013

When someone suffers from an injury it can affect their lives in ways that may not be known for years to come. It is also often the little things that many take for granted that are the most difficult to foresee as being a problem for those individuals. That is why it is always refreshing to hear of stories where local Massachusetts residents reach out to assist others in need, even in the simple matters such as a tooth ache. One local dentist from Martha's Vineyard did just that. One of his patients who has been paralyzed from the chest…

Wrong-way driver causes crash, injures 4 in Gloucester

On behalf of posted in car accidents on Thursday December 20, 2012

What would you do if you saw a pickup truck traveling toward you in your lane? Would you swerve to the right and go off the shoulder? Would you swerve to the left and go into the pickup truck's lane so you could pass each other? When you have only seconds to react -- what would you do? It was reported that on a Friday night in Gloucester, a driver was faced with exactly that decision. The driver chose to swerve to the left, into the wrong lane, no doubt hoping to avoid the pickup truck. However the pickup truck…

Pedestrian accident injuries drive changes in Massachusetts

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Monday December 17, 2012

We have posted several blogs during the past year about pedestrian accidents. There were four in November, four posts in October and ten during the summer months. Pedestrian accidents are regular occurrences and they are often fatal. It was recently reported that pedestrian accident injuries are driving changes in Massachusetts. Quincy in particular has announced that the city is beefing up enforcement as well as education in an effort to stem the injuries and fatalities. Quincy is taking the somewhat unusual step of having police officers pose as pedestrians in order to give traffic citations to drivers who ignore the laws meant…

On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Wednesday December 12, 2012

According to the weather almanac, Saturday December 8th in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, the high temperature was 44 degrees and the low point was 40 degrees. 0.32 inches of rain fell amid a five mile per hour wind. The moon was a waning crescent when the sun rose at 7:04 and set at 4:15. What do the weather conditions have to do with a car accident in Shrewsbury that killed a woman? Maybe nothing - but perhaps everything. During light rain and fog at about 8:30 at night, an Audi A4 driven by a 25-year-old man struck a Honda Civic driven by a…

There are a few inventions which have revolutionized the way we live and work. One of them could arguably be the computer. A close second might be video and digital recording. The driver of an SUV is a 56-year-old doctor who was accused of being drunk and on drugs when she crashed her car into another, injuring the other driver. The accident took place at about 9:00 in the morning near a Whole Foods store. The video…

Criminal charges filed for fatal pedestrian accident

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Monday October 22, 2012

When an accident occurs in Boston or elsewhere, it is entirely possible for there to be both criminal charges and civil litigation for the same incident. It is also possible to be found not guilty in one court and liable in the other court. The most famous case like this was O.J. Simpson who was found not guilty of double homicide in criminal court and found liable for two deaths in civil court. Several months ago we posted an article about a fatal pedestrian accident in Whitman. It now appears that the driver responsible man will be facing criminal charges…
