Motorcycle and SUV collide in Natick, biker seriously injured

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Wednesday October 10, 2012

There is a bumper sticker you may have seen on cars around Suffolk County. It reads: "Start Seeing Motorcycles." The problem with riding a motorcycle, as any biker will tell you, is not the bike -- it is the cars and trucks. The wisdom of that warning was brought home recently when a motorcycle and BMW SUV collided in an intersection. As is typical with most motorcycle accidents, the biker was seriously injured and the driver and passenger in the SUV were not. The SUV and motorcycle crash took place during rush hour in Natick. The crash took place in…

The speed limit might be 35 miles per hour, but witnesses to a recent truck accident say that a green Ford F-150 may have been traveling up to 70 miles per hour when it crashed into a parked red Ford F-150. The 28-year-old driver of the green pickup truck was seriously injured as a result. According to news reports, the 28-year-old may have been unconscious at the time of the accident. The…

Alleged drunk driver kills National Guard member

On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Friday September 28, 2012

Whenever someone dies in a car accident, it is a tragic loss for the surviving family members. That tragedy can be compounded however by the circumstances of the victim's life. When someone is a member of the armed services, it does not seem just. If the victim has a young child, the tragedy gains extra poignancy. Recently a young National Guard member was killed in a senseless car accident, leaving behind a 3-year-old son. The 24-year-old woman was killed in a traffic accident, allegedly a victim of a drunk driver. The accident occurred on North Main Street (Route 152) in Attleboro…

Fatal pedestrian accidents in Lowell and Townsend

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday September 26, 2012

Our Boston readers no doubt understand that when a car, bus or truck strikes a pedestrian, serious injuries can result. It is not uncommon for a pedestrian accident to be fatal. It is also not uncommon for pedestrians to be struck by a motor vehicle, when the pedestrian has the right of way. It was recently reported that two pedestrians were involved in fatal accidents. One of the accidents was in Lowell and the other in Townsend. Both pedestrians were in their 50s. One was a victim of a hit-and-run driver. The hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred at about 1:15 in…

The Dangers of Back-to-School Traffic

On behalf of posted in car accidents on Monday September 24, 2012

The nation just got through the first few weeks of school this fall and with it came the usual added stress on drivers and kids to stay safe. The reasons are obvious for an increase in the risk of motor vehicle accidents near schools, with or around school buses and in neighborhoods with children. Kids are little and harder to see, and more likely as pedestrians or bicyclists to forget to observe traffic safety rules or to move impulsively. Most children are killed as pedestrians in the after-school hours. Bursts of traffic are also likely to accompany resumption of classes at colleges…

Box truck injures biker in Middleton

On behalf of posted in Commercial Vehicle Accidents on Monday September 24, 2012

When a motorcycle or truck accident occurs in Boston or anywhere and someone is injured, it may be only the injured person who knows what happened to cause the accident. If the injured person is unconscious, it may be left up to an accident reconstruction team to try and figure out what happened in a motor vehicle accident. Recently a motorcyclist and a box truck were involved in a collision in Middleton. The biker suffered serious injuries in the bike and truck accident, and thus may be unable to describe the events at this time. An accident reconstruction team was called…

Pedestrian injured in Peabody’s Peabody Square

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Tuesday September 18, 2012

There is more than one Peabody Square in Massachusetts. The one in front of the Essex County District Court building in Peabody isn't really much of a square, according to the bird's eye view from Google maps. It is more precisely a triangle. One of the sides of Peabody Square in Peabody is bordered by Lowell Street. It was reported that a pedestrian was attempting to cross Lowell Street from the direction of Chestnut Street when she was struck by a Ford Explorer pickup truck. She reportedly had serious personal injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The accident…

On behalf of posted in Commercial Vehicle Accidents on Friday September 14, 2012

Main Street in Medway is a tree-lined two-lane road. Google maps show that there is a sidewalk on one side of the road and there appears to be a clearly marked bike lane on either side of the road. The road is straight near the portion where it intersects with a cull-de-sac called Thunder Hill Road. It was along Main Street near Thunder Hill Road at 3:38 in the afternoon that a 20-year-old bicyclist was struck by a pickup truck which may have been a commercial vehicle. The bicycle-truck accident resulted in serious personal injuries for the biker. The news…

Fatal pedestrian accident occurs in Whitman

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Monday September 10, 2012

If anyone could have acted to save the life of a 38-year-old man from Whitman, it would likely have been the Whitman fire chief. The 43-year-old firefighter knew exactly who to call, even though he was off duty. The off-duty fire chief was the first one on the scene when a 38-year-old man and 4-year-old girl were struck by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The pedestrian accident occurred in the middle of the street right in front of the fire chief's house on Temple Street. It was not known how fast the pickup truck was traveling when it hit…
